Content

The course follows a curriculum that covers the linguistic, semantic, pragmatic and strategic contents of teaching Spanish as a foreign language with a focus on the practical use of the language. Important historical, social and cultural contents (Argentine, particularly “rioplatense”, and Latin-American one) are also integrated into the learning process and this immersion context enables our participants to truly understand our culture. The first part of the course helps us level the participants and understand their experience and knowledge in the field of learning and teaching the Spanish language. The course focuses on each participant’s specific challenges, education and teaching background. The second part of the course is built on modules that the participants have previously selected together with the respective professor or our academic coordinator. During these modules the grammatical, pedagogical, etc. contents are structured in a way to be in line with the fundamental difficulties different native speakers encounter when teaching Spanish. The discussion and the theoretical analysis are always put into practice through relevant grammar charts, interactive discovery exercises, selection of classroom topics, presentations, etc. Evaluation This course expects that the participant is able to make constant self-evaluation and reflection on his/her own learning process and on the educational practice. To approve the course a partial or total elaboration of a didactic unit is needed, depending on the grammatical and thematic axes agreed with the professor beforehand. The evaluation certificate is accompanied by the teacher’s feedback including a report which demonstrates the participant’s scores in the four skills of the communicative competence. Besides, specific curriculum guidelines are given for his/her future educational practice. Teaching materials Our academic team elaborates a binder with a selection of specific bibliography. This formation booklet is developed in line with the selected linguistic, semantic, pragmatic and sociocultural content, based on the needs and specific interests of the participant.
