- Cuentos de Amor, de Locura y de Muerte (uruguayan born Horacio Quiroga, 1917) – Master of the Latin American short story, often compared to Edgar Allan Poe.
- Cae la Noche Tropical´ (Manuel Puig, 1988) – Story like a soap opera about three proper ladies from Buenos Aires, that are banned to Rio de Janeiro (as the writer himself has been)
